It's strange, and also a little sad, that the reason most people know this hugely talented emcee is essentially from his appearance in a pop song (or also as being Ice Cube's cousin, though you wouldn't guess it from style). Well, I guess Gorillaz aren't your usual pop outfit, and that's why Del works so well with them, but his appearance in the hit single "Clint Eastwood" brought him a lot of attention.
So it's a shame that even though he was brought to mainstream attention, he never really got the recognition he deserved as a solo artist. Del has an amazing flow, and one hell of a recognisable voice. His delivery makes you shut up and listen. His first 4 albums through the 90's to the start of the 2000's are all solid, though he peaks on Both Sides of the Brain.
